“Beautiful Jinn” to premiere in Iran, Turkey in late July
TEHRAN – The Iranian producer Mehrdad Farid has said that his comedy drama “Beautiful Jinn” will premiere in Iran and Turkey at the same time in late July.
The movie has entered its final phases of postproduction, he told the Persian service of ILNA on Monday.
“There will be no difference between the copy that will be screened in Turkey and that of Iran,” he noted.
Staring Nurgul Yesilçay, the Turkish actress who is known in Iran for her role in the acclaimed TV series “The Magnificent Century”, the movie is a co-production between Iran and Turkey.
Last November, some reports published on Persian news outlets announced that the Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Abbas Salehi, had ordered Farid and the film’s director, Bairam Fazli, to replace Yesilçay with an Iranian actress.
The issue received a negative response from Farid who refused to make any change in the cast or reshoot scenes from the movie.
Since the movie has not completed its phases of postproduction, it will not be premiering at the 36th Fajr Film Festival, which will be held in Tehran during February.
